'White Elephant' MISAFF & VISAFF Selections and Wins 2 Awards at VAFF
More news for WHITE ELEPHANT! We have two upcoming screenings of the film if you didn’t catch it the last time. The first is at the Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival between Dec 4 and 12 Canada-wide for the duration of the festival on the TIFF Lightbox platform. Tickets go for $5 for our film or $25 for an all-access pass. The second is at the Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival where it will screen online on Dec 11 as the Opening Night Film (a first for us!) - please see their website for details. These are our first South Asian film festivals, so we can’t wait until we finally get to share it with South Asian audiences.
The other big news in WHITE ELEPHANT land is that it took home two more awards at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival, for Best Canadian Feature and the People’s Choice Best Overall Performance. Thank you VAFF for the humbling recognition! We would’ve never guessed that the film could resonate so much.

A few exciting announcements. The first is that WHITE ELEPHANT is an Official Selection of the Vancouver Asian Film Festival and will be screening online between November 1 and 9, 2020. Our film will be available to watch Canada-wide for only $5 during a 24-hour period. Tickets are already available for pre-order here! The second is that our film had the privilege of taking home 4 awards at the Reelworld Film Festival, including Outstanding Feature Film, Standout Director, Standout Writer, and Standout Actress. Jaded Pictures’ first feature film, WHITE ELEPHANT will be having its World Premiere at the Reelworld Film Festival between October 14 and 19, 2020. The festival will be held online due to COVID, but all access passes to view any film at the festival will be available to purchase for $25 each at https://www.goelevent.com/Reelworld/Pass/Sale. NEW FILM: DRAMA FEATURE FILM 'WHITE ELEPHANT'
Jaded Pictures has completed principal photography of its first feature film, WHITE ELEPHANT, starring Zaarin Bushra, Gurleen Singh, Dulmika Kevin Hapuarachchi, Jesse Nasmith, Amanda Catibog, Yahya Amin, Kalyna Fisher, Riley James Myers, and Kumar Kapsi. The film is written and directed by Andrew C, produced by Christopher Nguyen and Andrew C, executive produced by Elegoa Cultural Productions, associate produced by Sasha Fevez and Dave Lam, with cinematography by Dave Lam.
The filmmakers would like to acknowledge the support of Elegoa Cultural Productions, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Varley Art Gallery of Markham, and the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) for making the film possible.
Set in 1996, WHITE ELEPHANT takes place in a majority-minority neighbourhood in Scarborough, about a 16-year-old Pooja who finds herself torn between her crush on a white boy, and her Brown and Black friends. 'MA' AVAILABLE ON ALL INTERNATIONAL AIR CANADA FLIGHTS
Between May 1st and July 31st, 2019, MA will be available to watch on all international Air Canada flights. This is a first for Jaded Pictures, so we’re ecstatic that one of our films can now be screened in the skies. 'MA' OFFICIAL SELECTION AT REEL ASIAN AND SAN DIEGO ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL
MA will be making its World Premiere at the Reel Asian International Film Festival in Jaded’s home base of Toronto, Canada on Nov 13 at 10:30AM and screening again on Nov 14 at 1:30PM in the 401 Commons, 401 Richmond St W. This is the first time that one of Andrew’s films will be making its World Premiere in our hometown, so it’s really special for us. Shortly after, the film will be having its American Premiere on the same day, Nov 13 at 4PM for the San Diego Asian Film Festival in the UltraStar Cinemas, Mission Valley.
